I will be teaching FRAMING THE SHOT at the Fashion Institute of Technology this fall
Course Description:
This course is an in-depth study of framing the overall content and the subject’s choreography for film and video art production. Using the frame both visually and conceptually as a building block for video production, the students will learn to construct their narrative space using composition, color, and light over time within a framed context. Students will explore various framing and composition techniques such as perspective, camera angle, micro/macro view transformation, placement of subject in the environment, subject juxtaposition, mixing of historical genres, fantasy and spectacle, natural phenomena and symbolism.
